Since its inception, the Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 S sedan has been one of the benchmarks among luxury performance sedans. With an all-new refreshed Mercedes-Benz E-Class for 2021, this means the machine gets even meaner. Although its silhouette remains the same, its refreshed skin brings a new front and rear end with slimmer head and tail lamps and even stronger character lines.

Being an E-Class, E63 S's elegance and luxury are not questioned. Still, along with that, it also has some racing DNA infused into it. With a bonkers 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 coupled with sport suspension, the E63 S offers you the best of both worlds. A set of traditional drive modes alongside four AMG Dynamic driving modes also help the E63 S unleash its true character on the road. With its recent upgrade, the new 2021 E63 S sedan will also walk into its 2022 model year with no change.

In an unexpected move, Mercedes-Benz has told its dealers that a significant number of V8-engined models will not be offered stateside for the upcoming 2022 model year, publishing a long list of vehicles that won't be provided in the eight-cylinder form. The automaker has cited unspecific supply chain issues for a reason. However, the specifics remain murky at the moment, given that plenty of other powerful engines, including ones offered in AMG-badged cars, will remain on the menu for the 2022 model year.

The toll is significant, with Mercedes telling its dealers not to expect the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe, C63 S Cabriolet, GLC63 S Coupe, GLC63 SUV, GLC63 S SUV, E63 S sedan and wagon, as well as the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and 63 S twins.

The sedan's rear end gets a significant makeover: the previously vertical, egg-shaped taillights are replaced by horizontal taillights that give the E63 a more tight and sporty, if somewhat less distinctive, look. The wagon model retains the shape of the taillights, which have always been horizontal. Still, the inner workings are tweaked to resemble the new sedans more closely.

The central star also grows, so no one will mistake this Mercedes for anything else. Unfortunately, it is a hologram that covers sensors for some of this car's various nanny systems.
